Congress playing role of Muslim League of Pre-Partition -1947
Ravinder Jalali1/22/2020 10:06:25 PM
The opposition led by Congress has been desperate as one more feather has been added to the Modi led govt at the centre by getting Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019 passed in both the houses of parliament. On this as it could not digest and could not protest when Article 370, 35 A, Ram Mandir issue and triple Talaq like issues got settled. Now on the pretext of CAA protests have broken out across India, a few of them violent, against the Act. I do not consider as a protest. I don't even see any reason for opposing the CAA. These were pre-planned riots consisting of vandalism, loot and arson. Disinformation campaign was launched by the Congress and entire opposition as if it was any illegal or unconstitutional act. These riots were carried by all the opposition parties including some of the allies of BJP who voted in favour of the CAA in parliament.
This reminds us of the role of Muslim league during pre-partition for creating of Pakistan and enables me to reach to a conclusion that Congress is playing the role of Muslim League. Against this backdrop, it is necessary to give some information on the role of Muslim League in Creating Pakistan. The party arose out of a literary movement begun at The Aligarh Muslim University in which Syed Ahmad Khan was a central figure. It remained an elitist organization until 1937 when the leadership began mobilizing the Muslim masses and the league then became a popular organisation. In the 1930s, the idea of a separate nation-state and influential Sir Muhammad Iqbal's vision of uniting the four provinces in North-West British India further supported the rationale of the two-nation theory. The Muslim League played a decisive role in the 1940s, becoming a driving force behind the division of India along religious lines and the creation of Pakistan as a Muslim state in 1947. After the partition and subsequent establishment of Pakistan, the Muslim League continued as a minor party in India where it was often part of the government.
Going through the present unrest created by Congress seems to be doing what a few years before the partition, the Muslim League did. Muslim league monetarily subsidized mobs that engaged in communal violence against Hindus. The Muslim League paid assassins money for every Hindu and Sikh they murdered. This is what is seen as doing by Congress and their leaders by supporting and visiting the family of rioters, those who attack Indian establishment and forces. Any Indian organisation would not support those forces who are acting against the interests of India. Congress support Tukde Tukde Gang of JNU and other places, those who attack Indian forces and who vandalize national property. This is what they did in 1947, just to be in power they accepted two nation theory which was against the interests of our country. Security and sovereignty of our nation was sacrificed. The limbs of Bharat Mata were severed. Nation was cut into two pieces with out application of mind, simply just for the lust of power.
Muslim League never fought for independence of India. They never fought for independence but for Islam and caliphate. It was during popular Khilafat movement in Turkey for retaining the caliphate, protests emerged across the Muslim world, the most prominent activities took place in India and Muslims support for the caliphate, the way the Congress is doing presently in the name of registering protest against CAA. Khilafat was not a religious movement but rather a show of solidarity with their fellow Muslims in Turkey. They aimed to build political unity amongst Muslims and use their influence to protect the caliphate. This is what congress is doing by consolidating Muslim votes to regain power as it has been a vote bank for them which have eroded with the passage of time. Congress and other parties are provoking Muslim as if CAA is against them and made them to come on roads and fight Indian establishment which can be considered as a revolt, but it will not matter for Congress because Congress considers Muslims as vote bank.
If we will go into deeper dimension of the Partition which includes the role of Muslim League as well as Congress, it will be fair to blame squarely Congress for partition but for obvious reasons, Muslim League as well as British, were also responsible for it. Although Britain had no stake in the partition because of being outsiders and knowing that it hardly matters for them because they are the outsiders and are not going to settle in India but for Muslim League and Jinnah it was a bounty with power and money. Does it mean that Jinnah can not be held responsible for Partition? Absolutely, No. It was he (Jinnah) who sowed the seed of partition on the basis of the religion and is the main culprit. The letter of Jinnah to Gandhi dated September 17, 1944, is a testimony to it which read as under: "Muslims and Hindus are two major nations by any definition or test of a nation. We are a nation of a hundred million, we are a nation with our own distinctive culture and civilization, language and literature, art and architecture, names and nomenclature, legal laws and moral codes, customs and calendar, history and traditions, aptitudes and ambitions-in short we have our own distinctive outlook on life and of life. By all cannons of international law we are a nation."
The role and responsibility of Congress in dividing Bharat and creation of Pakistan, a country founded on an idea of religious identity is also of great significance and can not be ignored. Pakistan is a bye-product of gaining India's Independence. If today somebody is raising a demand for freedom or autonomy or something, it does not mean that he will get it unless it is given to them and it is the giver who is responsible for it. Now it will be argued that the British is responsible for dividing India, but Congress accepted the two nation theory on the basis of religion and in a hurry. It simply means that they negotiated and compromised the freedom of India by giving a portion of India to Pakistan.
If Muslims succeeded in getting their Pakistan where they feel free to practice Islam and will be Islamic country governed by Islamic rules, then what about the other faiths? Then obviously the areas other than Pakistan should have been for the rest of the faiths only, which is not. It seems that congress was very eager to get power rather than the freedom of country. Had they been fighting sincerely for freedom of their mother land, and then they would not have accepted the partition no matter what Jinnah or Muslim league would have demanded.
