DDC flags off farmers on three-day tour

REASI, Jan 22: District Development Commissioner Indu Kanwal Chib flagged off a group of 40 farmers hailed from different blocks of the district on a 3-day tour within the UT for updating their knowledge on different aspects of modern agriculture methods.
Chief Agriculture Officer, SDAO Reasi, Deputy Project Coordinator ATMA, Incharge STL Reasi, AEOs and other officials from Agriculture Department were present on the occasion.
The DDC asked the farmers to avail benefit from the opportunity and learn in taking farming as an enterprise in order to ensure profitability from agriculture. She informed the farmers that the Agriculture Department in association with the District Administration is taking lemon grass cultivation on a commercial scale and encouraging farmers affected by monkey-menace to take up the new crop.
Chief Agriculture Officer Reasi, S Iqbal Singh advised farmers to adopt mushroom cultivation as alternate to traditional farming to be profitable with support from the department.
