Early Times Report

Poonch, Jan 23: It may sound amazing but true that at least six Block Development officers have been shifted in a year in sub division Mendhar resulting in huge set back to labourers of Mendhar block is a largest one in the district and no permanent BDO has been posted here for a long time. In the absence of BDO, the labourers who have undertaken various development works have to suffer a lot as they alleged that their issues were not being sorted out in the office.
While talking to Early Times the labourers alleged that in the absence of BDO our bills and other files bites dust in BDO’s office for the last one year at least 6 BDOs were posted here but no one was sent to assume office permanently. As the BDO is head of the block and without his presence all works come to a halt, they added.
It is pertinent to mention that at present child Development Project Office (CPDO) Jehangir Khan KAS has been given additional charge of BDO Mendhar who already holds charge of Girls Pahari Hostel, LoC Passenger crossing point Chakkan Da Bagh, Assistant Commissioner Labour Department Nodal officer for Union Ministers on visit to J&K etc. One can guess the burden of work laid on a single officer which is irony on the part of administration.
Chairman Mendhar youth club Advocate Nadeem Rafiq Hussain Khan has urged Lt Governor J&K Union Territory. GC Murmu that a Block Development officer be posted to Mendhar block on permanent basis besides all vacancies be filled in the various government departments to allow the smooth functioning of the affairs, he added.
