JAMMU, Jan 24: Government College of Education Jammu organized a walkathon cum poster making on Girl Child Day on the theme "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao".
Principal of the college, Dr. Sangita Nagari was the chief guest on the occasion. About 100 students/NSS volunteers attended the programme. On the occasion, students prepared posters depicting the importance of educating the girl child.
Addressing the gathering, Principal of the College lauded the efforts of NSS team for their efforts for awareness generation about the BBBP campaign. "There is no difference between girl and boy child and both should be treated equally by the parents and society".
She further stressed upon the contribution being made by girls in every field whether sports, literature, science, education etc. Parents should always encourage their daughters whenever opportunities come in their way. Various speakers put forth their valuable suggestions/thoughts on the theme Beti Bachao Beti Padao on the occasion.
She said that BBBP programme has been launched by the Government to address the issue of declining Child Sex Ratio (CSR), in age group of 0-6 years. The overall goal of the programme is to celebrate the Girl Child and enable her Education. The programme concluded with a walkathon along with posters in their hands to create awareness/attitudinal change among common masses.
