GDC Thannamandi celebrated National Girl Child Day

RAJOURI, Jan 24: Govt. Degree College Thannamandi organized a symposium on the topic Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (Save the Girl Child, Educate the Girl Child) in connection with the celebration of National girl child day under Chairmanship of Principal of the College Prof. (Dr.) Javaid Ahmed Qazi,.
The programme was organized by the Women Development Cell/ NSS Unit of the college and was started with the welcome address by Prof. Fatima Qazi (HOD Political Science). Seven students of different semesters participated in the symposium.
Dr. Shokit Ali (HOD Urdu), Mohammad Shoket (HOD Education) and Naveen Sharma (HOD EVS) acted as judges for the program. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Ms. Areej Fatima student of semester 4th. Among the speakers, the first prize winner was Maheen Fatima student of 2nd semester and second and third prizes were bagged by Attia Fatima student of 4th semester and Tamana Qureshi students of the 6th semester respectively.
Speaking on the occasion Prof. (Dr.) Javaid Ahmed Qazi, Principal of the College advised the students to develop the human values among themselves and fight against the prevailing evils related to women in society. While talking on the occasion Dr. Khalid Rayaz (HOD Geography) stressed upon the girls to prepare them to compete in each and every sphere of life in this challenging modern era. Others who were present on the occasion include Dr. Shamim Azad, (HOD Botany), Dr. Muqaddus Kariem (HOD Chemistry), Naveen Sharma (HOD EVS), Waqr Ahmed Librarian, Dr. Wahid Ahmed Qazi (HOD Islamic Study) and several others.
