Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist killed in Pulwama encounter was on 'most wanted' list
1/24/2020 10:38:46 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, Jan 24: The terrorist killed in a gunfight with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on Wednesday has been identified as a Pakistani national affiliated to Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit.
Making the announcement, a police officer said that the "most wanted" terrorist was operating under code names "Abu Saifullah" and "Abu Qasim" and had been active in south Kashmir for the past one and a half years. South Kashmir has remained the hotbed of terror-related activities and many youths from this region have joined terror outfits across the border in PoK.
Saifullah was wanted in connection with the abduction and killing of two civilians apart from threatening special police officers (SPOs) and non-local labourers working in the Valley. Saifullah, a close aide of the self-styled chief commander of JeMQariYasir of Pakistan, who was killed in an encounter with security forces in Kupwara district in July 2013, was trapped along with his local associate during a search and cordon operation at Zaintrag village in the Awantipora area of Pulwama on Tuesday morning.
The operation turned into a gunfight when terrorists opened fire on the joint search parties of police, 50 Rashtriya Rifles and 185 Battalion of the CRPF injuring Sepoy Rahul Ranswal of the Rashtriya Rifles and SPO Shahbaz Ahmad of local police. Both these men were evacuated to an Army hospital where they succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment.
While the injured jawans were evacuated, the terrorists fled from the cordon area and were tracked down in the forest area of Nagander village.
"Abu Saifullah has been active in Tral and the Khrew area of Awantipora for more than one-and-a-half years and was a close associate of slain JeM chief QariYasir. He was involved in the abduction and killing of two civilians Abdul QadeerKohli and Manzoor Ahmad Kohli and injuring a shopkeeper, Naseer Ahmad Ganie, last year," officer as saying was quoted.
Saifullah was also wanted in a case related to pasting of posters in which the SPOs were threatened with dire consequences if they didn’t leave their jobs while the non-locals labourers were asked to leave the Valley.
