JK on high alert to foil suicide bombing plans
Now Pakistan investing in human bombs
1/24/2020 11:10:33 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 24: The Jammu and Kashmir has been put on high alert amid intelligence inputs that Pakistan was planning suicide bombings in the newly established Union Territory.
Sources said the recent arrest of five youth from the summer capital of Srinagar along with a cache of arms and ammunition including a suicide belt has exposed the nefarious designs of the enemy country that it now wants to use terrorists as human bombs.
It is for the first time that the deadly suicide belt was recovered from militants in the restive valley.
“It is first such deadly recovery of a suicide belt and it suggests that Pakistan now wants suicide bombing in Kashmir and thus security apparatus has to be revamped accordingly to tackle any apprehended human bombing,” said a senior official on the condition of anonymity.
Sources said though the police remained successful in foiling the bid of suicide bombing in the summer capital, the security agencies are not taking any chances with regard to the security preparedness for the upcoming Republic Day in particular.
Sources said there are inputs that similar modules could be active in other areas of the UT and thus the security apparatus has been put on high alert.
“We don’t think terrorists could be having only one suicide belt with them. There may be more in the store and we’re working on multiple leads to get to the bottom of the story,” said a police official on the condition of anonymity.
Official sources said the seizure of the suicide belt from the terrorists has exposed that Pakistan has changed its strategy of running terror networks in Kashmir.
“Human bombing is the new challenge but security forces are fully prepared to overcome it,” the sources said.
Sources said while the security and the intelligence network has been further beefed up, especially in the twin capitals of the UT, three tier bandobast of security agencies has also been put in place.
In a bid to avoid inconvenience to the public witnessing the Republic Day celebrations in Jammu, the Security wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Police has already asked the prospective visitors not to bring along any smart phones or cameras.
