Chairman PCB inaugurates sanitary waste disposer unit at GCW Gandhi Nagar

JAMMU, Jan 28: Chairman, Pollution Control Board, Suresh Chugh inaugurated a Sanitary Waste Disposer Unit at Gandhi Nagar College for Women to create awareness regarding the often neglected field of sanitary waste management.
B.M Sharma, Member Secretary, J&K PCB, Dr. Syed Nadeem Hussain, Regional Director, J&K PCB, Professor Ravinder Tickoo, Principal, Gandhi Nagar College for Women Jammu, Arshad Nazir Malik, Divisional Officer, PCB, Jammu North, Anuradha, Scientist, Pollution Control Board, Dr. Nazia Dr. Nazia Rasool, Co-ordinator, Cluster University of Jammu, Dimple Sharma, Field Inspector, PCB, Jammu, staff and students of the college were present on the occasion.
The Sanitary Waste Disposer unit having a capacity of 25kg of sanitary waste per hour has been installed due to efforts of the Pollution Control Board through M/s Ornate Naturale, Bangalore.
Chairman Suresh Chugh appreciated the efforts of PCB officials for working in coordination with implementing authorities to ensure compliance of relevant Rules and guidelines in consonance with Swachh Bharat Mission guidelines and directions of the NGT.
Dr. A. R Laakshman Sastry, Proprietor, Ornate Naturale highlighted the working of this equipment which has already been installed at Army base camp, Siachen, Army Hq Udhampur, Army base camp, Nagrota, SMVDSB etc.
Dr. Syed Nadeem Hussain, Regional Director, J&K PCB congratulated the college administration for taking this initiative towards on-site waste management that will help in seeking good ranking under Green Audit for educational institutions.
B.M Sharma, Member Secretary, J&K PCB impressed upon that Sanitary Waste Management is mandatory under Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016.
Principal, Gandhi Nagar College for Women Jammu appreciated PCB for installing sanitary waste disposer unit which is an important part of Swachh Bharat Mission.
