Joginder Pal Singh Congress MLA from Punjab held hostage JK officials
'Loot of resources from Ravi River'

Jammu, Jan 28: Joginder Pal Singh Congress MLA of Powa constituency of Pathankot district of Punjab allegedly try to kidnap Ashwani Kumar Sharma, Deputy Director, J&K Mining Department, and his team for preventing theft of sand and stones from Ravi river illegally and held hostage the team for hours.
The incident took place on Tuesday when, the Deputy Director along with official of a mining department Kathua toured the Ravi River area near KerriyanGandiyal. “The team spotted a truck nearby stone crusher and asked the driver to stop the sand-loaded truck for checking. While seeing the official of Mining Department, the driver of truck fled from the spot and informed the owner of the stone crusher that truck was stopped by official of mining department”, they said adding that after that Punjab Congress MLA of Powa Constituency Joginder Pal and cops of Punjab Police reached on spot and started misbehaving and verbal spat with Deputy Director of the Mining Department.
After that the MLA took the team of Mining Department towards Punjab in his personnel car. As soon as the news of hostage and misbehavior with the officials spread, Additional SP Kathua Ramnish Gupta and DSP DAR K.D Bhagat reached on the spot and took the matter with administration of Punjab and the UT of J&K. Then Deputy Director Mining Jammu, brought back from the border of Punjab, meanwhile the matter has been resolved.
When Early Times contacted the Additional SP KathuaRamnish Gupta over this incident he confirmed the incident and said that so far no case has been registered.
