LeT militant arrested in Pattan area, unidentified gunmen lobbed grenade in Tujjer

BARAMULLA, Jan 28: The security forces claimed to have arrested a militant of LeT outfit in Pattan area, while suspected militants have also lobbed a hand grenade in Tujjer area of Sopore town in this north Kashmir district on Monday late evening.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla, Abdul Qayoom said that they have arrested a local militant of Bandipora district from Andergam area of Pattan town who is affiliated with the Lashkar-e Toiba (LeT) militant outfit.
The militant of LeT outfit has been identified as Sajid Farooq Dar (19) @ Adnan, S/O Farooq Ahmad Dar R/o Gund Prang MadvaHajin of Bandipora district, adding one hand grenade has been also recovered from his possession, said Abdul Qayoom.
SSP said that, according to investigations that his friend Bilal Ahmad was killed in an encounter in Mujgund area and after that he was keen to join the militant ranks.
It is also learnt that, just three-four days back he has joined the militant ranks of LeT, and parents are requested to have a close vigil on their wards so that they cannot adopt a wrong path, SSP added. It is pertinent to mention here that, ahead of Republic day function, on Jan 25 seven Over Ground Workers (OGWs) were arrested by a joint team of security forces at different locations in Bandipora district, while as huge arms and ammunition's were also recovered from them.
However on Monday late evening, suspected militants lobbed a hand grenade at the residence of a civilian in Tujjer village of Sopore in north Kashmir's Baramulla district. Reports have said that a house of civilian Ghulam Mohammad was damaged after suspected militants lobbed a grenade; however no loss of life or injury was reported in the attack.
A senior police official have said that a sound like blast was heard in the area, adding a team of police reached there and are investigating the incident.
