What next? Holiday cancelled, police medals rechristened
1/28/2020 11:41:43 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Jan 28: Jammu and Kashmir administration has sent yet another message to Kashmir centric leaders by changing the nomenclature of the police medals.
The Home Department of J&K UT on the eve of 71st Republic Day issued an order stating that Sher-e-Kashmir has been removed from the police gallantry medals and these have been rechristened.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, “National Conference during its tenure had included title of Sher-e-Kashmir everywhere just to drive home a point that everything in J&K is connected with the NC founder late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah.”
He said that the administration of the newly carved Union Territory has made the first move by changing the nomenclature of the police medals and by cancelling the holiday on Sheikh Abdullah’s birthday. “What could be the next move?” the analyst asked.
Kashmir centric leaders have reacted sharply to the decision of the administration to omit Sher-e-Kashmir. Many of them believe that it’s an attempt to “distort the history.”
An observer said, “It seems that these leaders need to be reminded that when National Conference ruled Jammu and Kashmir it also distorted the age old history of Dogras. The NC is just a 70-year old party and could produce only one leader. Prior to 1947 all the leaders in J&K were from Jammu region. But after the Kashmir centric parties came into power they went on a rampage and destroyed the very symbols of Dogra rule in Jammu and Kashmir. Today when they are being made to taste their own medicine, they have started dancing and are crying foul.”
Another analyst said, “The Kashmir centric leaders acted as big impediments during the past 70-years. They created a notion that they only can rule Jammu and Kashmir. And if any attempt is made to dislodge them it would mean J&K slipping into the hands of Pakistan.”
He said, “Since August 5, 2019, all the myths have been shattered. J&K is being ruled and it’s being ruled well. The theory of J&K falling into the lap of Pakistan too stands punctured. Kashmir centric leaders have been left with nothing to sell. They have no idea about what future holds in store for them.”
The analyst said, “All the so-called big leaders of Jammu and Kashmir have been under detention for the past five months. Not a single person has come out to seek their release. They just had created an illusion around them, but everything around them stands shattered.”
