Training for elected women representatives held

KATHUA, Jan 29: District Development Commissioner O.P Bhagat chaired an Interaction cum Training Programme to acquaint Elected Women Representatives with functioning and running of panchayats.
DDC impressed upon the elected women representatives to take maximum benefit of learning the business of panchayat. He said the objective to organize the programme was to give insight of functioning, working and various process of development works to be undertaken by the elected representatives. He said the better understanding of role and responsibilities will pave the way for actual development of people. DD said that elected women are coming in high numbers in comparison to earlier panchayat elections which is good sign for women empowerment.
Earlier interactive session on digital signaturing, leadership roles, panchayat award claim, centrally sponsored schemes such as PMAY, MGNREGA, nutritional programme, Mid day meal, Social Assistance Scheme and Gram Panchayat Development Plan etc was held wherein queries were answered by officers of different departments.
Cluster Head UMEED Lalita Devi shared the success stories of elected members and explains how to plan and utilise the funds better.
The elected women Representatives also apprised DDC the problems and demands faced by them. The DDC assured that all the damands and problems will be addressed on priority.
Among others ACD Sukhpal Singh, PO ICDS Ritu Mahajan, Tehsildar Nagri Suninderjeet Kaur, ALC Sapna were present on the occasion.
