Early times Report

Rajouri, Jan 29: The nexus between Government Hospital Administrations and private pharmacies have been defeating the much ambitious Pradhan Mantri Jan AushidhiPriyojna, which was meant for the people to avail medicines on reasonable rates.
Sources told Early Times that the government hospitals set up medicines shops within their premises under Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushidhi Pariyojna so that patients can avail medicines on reasonable prices but shockingly, most of hospitals have not kept entire range of generic medicines, which is mandatory under scheme and there is shortage always shortage of medicines in these shops.
They alleged that the hospital administration deliberately keep limited quantity of brands of medicines in these shops to extend benefit to the private pharmacies outside the hospitals. “The generic medicines are provided in these shops. At time, doctors prescribed medicines which are not available in these shops and patients have to purchase them from private shops outside the hospital on exorbitant rates. As per guidelines under this scheme, medicines of 740 salts should be available in these shops but unfortunately very limited medicines are available,” they said.
When contacted the principal GMC Rajouri Dr Kuldeep, he tried to avoid in giving reply and maintained that he was busy in meeting and can’t talk on this issue.
