1/29/2020 11:56:47 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Jan 29: In a major development, Union Territory of Ladakh is all set to have its own full-fledged police force to maintain law and order situation including separate wings in Crime and Traffic similar to Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.
While as the preparations for the purpose of setting up the Ladakh’s full-fledged have been finalised.
It is pertinent to mention here that after the Jammu and Kashmir &Ladakh became Union Territory officially on October 31, numbers of policemen were transferred to Ladakh. However, as per the sources those policemen that were transferred to the area are not enough to meet the requirement.
Sources said that in Leh and Kargil there are full-fledged offices of District Superintendent but with the creation of newly formed Union Territory, there are more wings that are needed to create so that all the aspects are covered in the region.
Sources further reveal that deliberations are going on with both the Hill Councils as without their cooperation necessary infrastructure cannot be created for Ladakh Police in a time bound manner. “However, for fresh recruitment and training, there was a need of creating more infrastructures and that will take some more time. The Hill Councils of both the districts (Leh and Kargil) have also projected the requirement of creation of more Police Stations and up-gradation of existing Police Posts”, said the sources.
Sources said that important posts like SP Traffic and other ranks will be created as early as possible for better management of vehicular movement in Leh and Kargil given the huge influx of tourists during summer season. The CEOs of both Kargil and Leh Hill Councils are in constant touch to finalise the requirement of proper infrastructure and the manpower. Things are in motion and full swing. While as the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) have been asked to identify and allot the land for construction of suitable infrastructure for all the wings of the Ladakh Police as early as possible.
