Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 13: In order to get financial assistance under Kayakalp Scheme for the hospital, the District Hospital (DH) Poonch conducted temporary upliftment to get full points from the Internal Assessing Team.
Sources told Early Times that Kayakalp scheme is an initiative taken under centre government flagship programme ‘Swatch Bharat Abhiyan’, that aims to improve cleanliness, hygiene and waste management practices at government health facilities.
“Facilities are assessed by Internal and external teams constituted by the department. There is a checklist of around 40-45 points, which has to be closely assessed by the team members and consequently, points are given to hospital. On getting 70 points, the hospital is awarded with certification and funds to the tune of lakhs,” they said.
Interestingly, DH Poonch got full points from the internal team, which was led by senior doctors from Rajouri district but fact of the matter is that the hospital is infamous for its poor facilities, which are provided patients. The hospital administration changed the entire condition of the hospital temporarily just to get adequate points. They further said that assessing team has to examine the overall functioning of the hospital wherein cleanliness of hospital, punctuality of doctors and staff, availability of medicines, security arrangements, behaviour with patients and attendants etc. all these points are checked.
On getting 70 points, the Hospital is given certification. Expressing her resentment against the hospital administration Priya Sharma, a local said that DH Poonch doesn’t deserve even 10 points. In recent case, the doctors were not available in the hospital to conduct post-mortem. Shockingly, the internal team constituted with doctors of Rajouri hospitals gave full points (70 points), to DH Poonch which are required to qualify for the scheme but internal team of Poonch gave 40 points to DH Rajouri.
