MENDHAR, Feb 16: A scam of ration and funds has surfaced in Mendhar tehsil of district Poonch, where two anganwari centers have been functioning without staff and children and the ration sanctioned for these anaganwari centers is being stocked at one of its anaganwari worker.
Sources told Early Times that there are two anganwari centres including Peer Heaider Shah Ziarat Chhajala and Mohalla Dora Chhajala.
“Peer Heaider Shah Ziarat was being operated by a Anganwari worker and a helper but after the marriage of it worker, which took place nearly 6-7 years ago, since then the center has not been functioning. Similarly the other center at Mohalla Dora Chhajala has also stopped functioning due to some unknown reason,” they alleged.
They further said that the ration for these centers is still being issued by the concerned CDPO Mankote, which indicates towards big scam, involving lakhs. Moreover the ration, which is issued by the department is being diverted to the one of its worker’s residence, which used to work at Peer Heaider Shah Ziarat.
The locals of the area alleged that CDPO Mankote is likely to be involved in this scam as it is not impossible that ration is being issued without his knowledge.
When Early Times contacted the concerned SDM Mendhar Sahil Jandyal, said that he would inquire about this issue fromn CDPO Mankote and inquiry will be held if something happened wrong.
