REASI, Feb 17: District Youth Services and Sports department Reasi today conducted block-level Chess and Carrom tournaments in all blocks of the district under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Indu Kanwal Chib.
Chief Education Officer, Mushtaq Ahmad, was the chief guest in the event held at Zorawar Singh Sports Stadium Reasi.
The matches were played between the winners of panchayat level matches held earlier. The winners of today’s matches will compete in district level matches to be held at Zorawar Singh Sports Stadium Reasi later this month.
At Katra, the matches were played at SMVD Sports Stadium while in other blocks, the matches were played at their respective Government High and Higher Secondary Schools.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Subash Chander, said that these sports events are being held to identify and nurture talent from all corners, including the remotest panchayats of the district with the funds being provided by the Union Government. |
