Five day national level training program for IFS officers inaugurated at SMVDU

Katra, Feb 18: Five-day National Training Program on ‘Crafting Individuals as Effective Leaders’ for Indian Forest Service officers inaugurates at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University. In the inaugural function, Dr. Jyoti Sharma, the Program Coordinator explained that the objective of this program is to craft the rational, relational, practical and directional competencies for being the effective leader.
Dr. Saurabh, Head, School of Business, welcomed the delegates and highlighted the achievements of the School of Business in terms of the alumni who are practicing effective leadership in different domains.
Prof. VK Bhat, Registrar, SMVDU, emphasized on the role of IFS officers as the leaders to conserve natural resources for the human sustenance. The Guest of Honor of the inaugural function, Suresh Chugh (IFS), Chairman, J&K Pollution Control Board & Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, J&K emphasized on the need to take the role of leaders, who transform the intention of the general public to protect the unique wildlife of Jammu and Kashmir for the benefit of ecology and society.
Padamshri Prof. Ravindra Kumar Sinha, Vice-Chancellor, SMVDU emphasized on the importance of learning from every being to become the transformational leader who effectively uses the resources and knowledge for the benefit of society by conserving the wild species at every strata.
Prof Sinha inspired the IFS officers with his experiences in different projects to save the dolphins. He emphasized that one of the basic features of an effective leader is to make the people at ground level effective in the respective domain. Prof Sinha congratulated the team for successfully conducting the trainings for IFS Officers as it is the tenth in the series with the financial support from Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Government of India. Earlier, the ice-breaking session was conducted by Dr. Suparn K. Sharma, organizing secretary of the program & Associate Professor, School of Business. During the inaugural function A Compendium showing a summary of different events conducted since 2010-11 was released by the dignitaries on the dais, including Prof Sinha, VC, SMVDU, Suresh Chugh,Prof. V.K.Bhat, Dr Jyoti Sharma and others. During this five day program, to craft and enhance leadership competencies the sessions in the training program will be conducted by resource persons including Ashok Bhat, HR Consultant, Major General N.K. Dhir, Dr. Ashok Bhan, DGP (Retd.), V.K.Singh, IPS Commandant General, Disaster Management, Dr. Vikrant Tomar, Director, UMS, India, Dr. O. P. Sharma Vidyarthi (IFS), Chief Conservator of Forests besides, the in-house faculty members of the university.The program is organized by School of Business, with the financial support from Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Government of India. The event is national in character as IFS officers participating in this program are from different States of India, including Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Gujrat, Orissa, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Chattisgarh Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, J&K etc. Dr. Ashutosh Vashishtha, Member, Organizing Committee & Associate Professor, School of Business, expressed his gratitude to Vice-Chancellor, SMVDU for his constant support and thanked the administration for providing resources for a smooth conduct of the program.
