EARLY TIMES REPORT

RAJOURI, Feb 18: Government Medical College (GMC) and Associated Hospital Rajouri has inadequate parking space in its premises, which remains fully occupied with ambulances, vehicles of hospital staff and that of visitors.
Astonishingly, the local residents of the area also park their personal vehicles in the premises of hospital making it fully packed, which creates problem for ambulance entry and exit during emergency cases.
Sources told Early Times that although the Hospital has a piece of land just opposite to it, which is ideal for parking but the space has been occupied by the local Auto Rickshaw Union, which has turned the vacant land into an auto stand.
“Already there is huge rush of vehicles in the hospital all the day and due to inadequate parking area in the hospital premises creates problem for visitors. While the hospital land remained occupied with 100-150 autos, which can be seen standing all the day,” they said.
Sources informed that although hospital administration tried thrice to get vacated the hospital land near to it from Auto Rickshaw Union but it failed all the times.
When contacted the Medical Superintendent (MS) GMC & Associated Hospital Rajouri, Dr Raghubir said that he had taken up the matter with the ARTO Rajouri to take action against the auto stand. Although department took action but after one week, the auto stand again came up there.
“We have also requested the Traffic Police to take action against illegal parking in and around the hospital so that genuine visitors may not suffer. Soon we are going to invite tenders for the parking area of the hospital to make it paid parking, which will restrict illegal parking,” the MS said.
