DDC Doda reviews patient care scenario, progress on health sector projects

DODA, Feb 18: District Development Commissioner, Dr Sagar D Doifode today took stock of patient care scenario and progress on Health Sector Projects coming up in this mountainous district, here at a meeting of the concerned senior functionaries.
The meeting was attended by CPO; Chief Medical officers (CMO); Medical Superintendent District Hospital; BMOs; District Asha Coordinator; District Program Manager NHM and other officials of health department.
At the outset The CMO Dr Mushtaq Ahmed apprised the DDC about the progress made by the department under various indicators like number of OPD patients attended, patients treated in IPD, institutional deliveries, successful surgeries, conduct of lab tests, x-rays besides achievements under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK); Revised National TB Control Programme (RNTCP); Ayushman Bharat; Leprosy Control programme and non-communicable disease (NCD) Control programme.
The CMO informed the meeting that this year a substantial improvement has been recorded in all parameters as compared to last year with the availability of better subsidiary services, specialised doctors, consultants, establishment of GMC Doda. “The facilities have not only provided better healthcare services but also reduced the referrals of patients by approximately 40%,” he added.
This year (2019-20) till date, 551868 patients visited OPDs as against 483836 last year, number of IPD increased from 22837 to 31369, while 2002 major operations were done as against 1164 last year.
Similarly, institutional deliveries show a significant rise to 3817 against 3213 last year, while 198072 lab tests were conducted as against 120410 last year; 4569 ECGs were done against 2401; 16584 x- ray were done against 14302 last year; 858 blood transfusion were done against 430 of previous year and 1076 ultrasound were conducted at the only centre at Bhaderwah against 983 last year.
Referring to the shortage of staff at Trauma hospital Khellani and Thathtri, the DDC directed the CMO to write to the government so that necessary action can be initiated.
The meeting decided to impart Special training to the doctors for running Ultrasound centres in the district
The DDC further directed for organising a capacity building programme for the doctors of Gandoh and Thathri to facilitate blood transfusion in these blocks, without any fail.
The need for activating the Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition (VHSN) committees was also stressed upon by resolving impediments and encouraging them to spend the available funds.
Regarding disease control programmes, the DDC asked the department to conduct the screening for Non Communicable Diseases (NCD) for the identification of patients with hypertension and blood sugar patients so that the aim of this programme can be fulfilled in letter and spirit.
The DDC expressed satisfaction over implementation of Ayushman Bharat, RBSK, RNTCP, JSY in the district and asked the concerned to keep on working with same dedication and spirit.
While reviewing the ongoing projects of health department, the DDC directs the executing agencies to complete the works within the stipulated time frame
Regarding bio medical waste management, the DDC directed the concerned to dispose of the bio medical waste generated in their respective institutions according to the guideline of NGT.
