EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Feb 18: The non-availability of the Postal Orders at the Post office branch of High Court Complex Janipur has left the advocates high and dry as they are not able to use the Postal Orders, particularly for the purpose of sending Right to Information (RTI) applications as without the postal orders one cannot seek the requisite information. According to the employees of the Postal Department, intimation to the head office with regard to the scarcity of Postal Orders was sent since last week— but till date the Postal Orders have not reached at the post offices and when enquired from the concerned employees about the reason for not sending the Postal Orders, they said the concerned employee of the head office branch is on leave.
They further said that it would be feasible to take Postal Orders from the Head Office at Jewel Chowk as there is still uncertainty about the supply of postal orders in the High Court branch.
"What to talk of the High Court Post Office, even the other peripheral branches of the post offices too lacks the availability of the Postal Orders and the RTI activists are made to run from pillar to post for getting the same,” said an advocate at J&K High Court Complex.
A group of advocates told the Early Times that they are facing hardships due to the non-availability of the Postal Orders.
One of the officials of the Head Post Office on the condition of anonymity admitted that most of the Post Offices in Jammu city are facing shortage of Postal Orders but couldn't specify the reasons for non-availability of the same.
