Mahila Shakti Kendra inaugurated at Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, Feb 19: Additional District Development Commissioner, Udhampur Ashok Kumar along with President Municipal Council Dr. Yogeshwar Gupta today inaugurated District level Centre for women under Mahila Shakti Kendra, ICDS Department here this morning.
District Programme Officer, ICDS Attar Chand, who is also the Member Secretary of Mahila Shakti Kendra, presented key note address while Women Welfare Officer Jyoti Pathania gave brief about the scheme.
While speaking on the occasion, the ADDC said that the setting of Mahila Shakti Kendra in the district will provide one stop convergent support services for empowering rural women with opportunities for skill development, employment, digital literacy, health and nutrition services related to women. He said that this Mahila Shakti Kendra will play an instrumental role in awareness, generation regarding various important social issues that have an impact on the lives of women in the District
On the occasion, Information Department Udhampur organized theme based folk cultural items presented by local artists. A symposium on the theme of women empowerment was also organized in which the students of Women College and Girls High Secondary School participated.
A pledge for empowering women and eliminating exploitation against women was also administrated to the participants by Priya Jamwal and Baby Samridhi.
Later, the chief guest distributed awards among the special guest and participants.
Among others, Block Development Council Chairperson Moungri and District Officers, Councilors, Sarpanchs besides Supervisors, HNMs, Anganwadi Workers, ASHA workers and staff of ICDS were present on the occasion.
