Bad light ruins day one play as Karnataka loses 2 for 14
Ranji Quarterfinal 2019-20

Early Times Report

JAMMU, Feb 20: Only 6 overs were bowled on the first day of the Ranji Quarterfinal match played between Jammu and Kashmir and Karanataka here at Gandhi Memorial Science College Ground Jammu.
One fails to understand why quarterfinal was played here at Jammu when the forecast was not suitable for the match while as earlier two Ranji group matches of Jammu and Kashmir were halted because of bad lights.
Ironically there are not flood lights at Gandhi Memorial Science College Ground Jammu. Whereas players crave for better grounds. Moreover, little precipitation on Thursday late night may make ground wet and more likely another day of cricket match will be ruined.
Earlier at the toss, Karnataka won and opted to bat which proved to costly for the tour team as Karnataka lost two of his openers on a day one short period of game.
Auqib Nabi struck with first wicket of the day. Samarth was first to go on the score of 5 runs. Mujtaba struck next and took the wicket of Devdutt, he managed 2 runs. Had match been played too long who knows Karnataka would have been bamboozled on score below 100.
For quarterfinal matches, Jammu and Kashmir had dropped Javaid Magrey and had brought Henan Malik into the squad. While Ram Dayal was replaced by Umar Nazir. Irfan Pathan former Indian cricketer is also with the team and has been mentoring players from last many days.
It is the second time in the history of Jammu and Kashmir cricket team that J&K have qualified for the quarterfinals. It will astonishing to see how games fold up on rest of the three days, whether game will be played or not.
In other quarterfinal matches, Gujrat scored 330 for four against Goa, while Saurashtra managed 226 for the loss of 6 wickets and in other game Bengal scored 308 for 6 against Odisha.
