World Day of Social Justice: DLSA Kathua holds awareness prog for students

KATHUA, Feb 20: Under the guidance of Chief Justice, High Court of J&K, Justice Gita Mittal and Patron-in-Chief J&K UT Legal Services Authority, Justice Rajesh Bindal, Executive Chairman, J&K State Legal Services Authority and under the able-aegis of Pawan Dev Kotwal, the Chairman District Legal Services Authority, an awareness programme was organised here at Govt. Middle School Kalyanpur to mark the World Day of Social Justice`.
The programme was organized by Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Aarti Mohan. The purpose of observing the day is to focus on the plight of social injustice throughout the world and to press for improvements and solutions.
Speaking on the occasion, Pankaj Kumar, Retainer Lawyer of District Legal services Authority Kathua, explained the students about the concept of social justice, including issues of poverty, unemployment and unfair exclusion that results in economic harm or social ostracism. He also stressed on promoting respect for human rights, removing artificial social barriers based on race, gender or religion.
Staff of Govt. Middle School Kalyanpur along with a large number of students participated in this awareness camp. The programme was also attended by the PLVs of District Legal Services Authority Kathua.
Incharge of Govt. Middle School Kalyanpur, Gulzar Singh presented vote of thanks. Besides Tehsil Legal Services Committees Billawar, Hiranagar, Mahanpur and Basohli also organized programme on “World Day of Social Justice” at Satya Model High School Billawar, Govt. Middle School Hiranagar, Govt. High School Raipur, Mahanpur and Govt. High School Basohli respectively.
