One month after minister’s visit, Situation same on ground
2/21/2020 12:01:52 AM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 20: Almost one month has been completed after team of Union Ministers’ ‘public outreach’ but nothing has been changed on the ground.
Common people are still facing the same problems which they had raised before the visiting ministers.
As per ground reports, despite assurances given by the officers in the presence of Union Ministers no step has been taken to ameliorate woes of the people. “Officers at the ground level are not ready change their mindset so situation is same on the ground”, sources said and informed that instead of addressing problems of the people officers are behaving like autocrats due to absence of political leadership.
As reported earlier in the media, the team of Union Ministers- engaged in the much publicized “public outreach” programme- was asked to get authentic feedback from the grass root level about implementation of Centre’s welfare scheme in the newly created Union Territory (UT) of J&K.
As part of Prime Minister’s initiatives, these visiting ministers have been directed to establish direct contact with the people at the Panchayat levels so as to the reliable feedback about peoples’ reaction, especially in Jammu region, about decision of the Centre to abolish Article 370 and to bifurcate J&K into two UTs.
Credible sources said that “public out-reach programme” of Union Ministers was likely to meet the fate another flop “Back to the Village” programme because there is no accountability of the officers at the ground level. Senior bureaucrats sitting in the Secretariat were not aware of the hardship being faced by the villagers who do not have approach to contact them.
