Maria spills beans
2/21/2020 12:04:15 AM

Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria’s assertion that terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba wanted Ajmal Kasab to die as Samir Chaudari of Bengaluru to create a notion that he was a part of the Hindu terror outfit depicts the dirty mindset of terrorist handlers and their bosses.
Kasab, who was arrested alive during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack by the martyred Mumbai Police constable, Tukaram Omble, foiled the plan of the terror outfit to give it a colour of Hindu terror attack.
Maria’s revelation in his book “Let Me Say It Now” has brought to fore that after Kasab’s arrest LeT wanted to kill him inside the Mumbai jail and the contract for it was given to Dawood Ibrahim’s gang.
Despite India providing clinching evidences to Pakistan about globally designated terrorist, Hafiz Saeed, being mastermind of the Mumbai terror attack, the neighbouring country didn’t act against him. The Pakistani courts in which he was tried gave him clean chit and he was set free.
Maria’s assertion that Kasab had joined the LeT for committing thefts and had been told that Muslims are not allowed to offer prayers in India indicate how dangerous these terror outfits are.
These outfits backed by Pakistan army and its spy agency ISI during the past few years have made many attempts to create an impression that Hindus are becoming terrorists. But their attempts have been foiled and they have not succeeded in their nefarious designs. Assertions of Maria stand testimony to the fact that terror outfits in Pakistan have been working overtime to create disruption in India. Had the Government of India (GoI) not changed its foreign policy by now situation in Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of the country could have been explosive. Pakistan would have given Hindu twist to the terror emanating from its soil by spreading lies and indulging in false propoganda.
The GoI changing its approach towards handling terrorists and the country sponsoring terror has to a great extent thwarted the machinations of the terror bosses like Hafiz Saeed. Surgical strikes and Balakot airstrikes have changed the very dynamics of dealing with the terrorists and Pakistan, which during the past three decades has done nothing except grooming terrorists and sending them across the Line of Control (LoC) to foment trouble.
The former Mumbai Police Commissioner has spoken after nine years and the revelations made by him are quite striking. His assertions cannot be brushed aside. These need to be taken seriously.
