Ayurvedic Dispensary Mallan Dessa in Doda without staff, people suffer
MO, Pharmacist didn’t attend dispensary since 2017

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Feb 21: The tall claims of Health Department of providing better health facilities virtually get deflated when it comes to Ayurvedic Dispensary Mallan Dessa in district Doda, which has been functioning without Medical Officer and Pharmacist. Shockingly, the only Nursing Orderly (NO) in the dispensary has been attending the patients thereby putting the lives of people in danger.
Sources told Early Times that Ayurvedic Dispensary was established nearly 40 years ago in block Bhagwah of Doda district, which is presently in total deplorable condition. The dispensary covers three panchayats having population of over 4500 souls. A huge rush of patients is being observed in the dispensary daily but the fate of this health institution remained unchanged. Several protests were held and bulk of representations from time to time had been given before concerned department yet no attention was paid towards the plights of locals, the end result is they continue to suffer.
They further said that in 2017, Health Department appointed a Medical Officer and a Pharmacist for dispensary but both employees didn’t join their place of posting thereby the only Nursing Orderly has been doing the job of MO and Pharmacist despite the fact that the NO is not eligible to examine and even prescribe the medicines to patients.
“These two medical employees have been running absent since 2017 yet they have been drawing their salary from the head DDO of Ayurvedic Dispensary Mallan under the jurisdiction of Block Ghat Health Department,” they said.
Recently, an incident took place in the area; wherein a girl child, daughter of Surjeet Singh, resident of Mallan village (Dundhar) died on February 9, 2020 due to alleged carelessness of Health Department of block Ghat Doda and non-availability of proper treatment.
