Minimum temperatures improve across Kashmir

The weather slightly improved in the Kashmir Valley on Sunday with an increase in the minimum temperatures brought some relief to the people of Kashmir and Ladakh regions from a severe cold, the weather office said.

“The weather is likely to improve further and will remain dry till February 26,” the official said.

He said that the night temperature across Kashmir Valley improved by several degrees last night.

Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded minus 0.1 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature on today as compared to Saturday’s minus 0.6.

The famous ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir, which experienced several feet of snowfall on various occasions last month, was the coldest place in Kashmir with a low of minus 5.0 degrees Celsius.

The famous hill resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded a minimum of minus 4.2 degrees Celsius.

Kupwara township of north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 1.6 degrees Celsius. Kokernag, in south Kashmir, recorded 1.9 degrees Celsius while Qazigund registered minus 1.0, he said.

In the Jammu region, Jammu city recorded 11.3 degrees Celsius, Katra recorded 10.4, Banihal 3.0, Batote recorded 5.0 and Bhaderwah 2.9 as the night’s lowest temperatures
