Div Com reviews Jammu city traffic management, progress on Nashri to Banihal stretch of NH

JAMMU, Feb 24: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma today reviewed Jammu City traffic management plan and the progress of work on four-lanning of Nashri to Banihal stretch of Jammu –Srinagar National Highway , here at two separate meetings.
The meetings were attended by IGP Traffic J&K, T Namgyal, SSP Traffic National Highways, Jatinder Singh Johar, SSP Traffic Jammu, Joginder Singh, Secretary JMC, Tinna Mahajan, besides representatives of National Highway Authority of India, Public Works Department, JDA and other concerned officers.
District Development Commissioner, Ramban attended the meeting through video conference.
Threadbare discussions were held on streamlining of the traffic on the city roads and several decisions were taken for minimizing the accidents, smooth flow of traffic and implementing effective road safety mechanism.
The issues, including identification of black spots and accident prone areas, removal of encroachment from important city roads, improvement of rotaries, identification parking spaces/ areas, modernization of traffic management system, enforcement of road safety rules were also discussed in the meeting.
Directions were issued to the concerned officers for identification of parking spaces in the city and installation of signage and improvement of rotaries.
Meanwhile, the Divisional Commissioner reviewed the progress on land acquisition pertaining to Nashri to Banihal stretch of the National Highway.
The Deputy Commissioner Ramban informed about the progress on the cases. The Div Com sought details of land acquisition, structure removal, tree cutting, disbursement of compensation and shifting of electricity towers in the district.
The Div Com asked the DC Ramban to complete the pending land acquisition cases, tree felling, structure removal for smooth execution of work on the vital road project.
Later, in another meeting with Deputy Commissioners of border districts of the division, the Div Com reviewed the progress on under construction bunkers along international border in Jammu division.
The Deputy Commissioners apprised the Div Com about the progress of works on under construction individual and community bunkers in their respective districts.
The Div Com directed the DCs for close monitoring of the construction of bunkers for their early completion. He further asked the executing agencies to adhere to the fixed timeline for completion of all the bunkers.
