State Taxes Enforcement intensifies drive against evasion of GST

JAMMU, Feb 24: The State Taxes Enforcement wing, Jammu (North) has intensified its drive against tax evaders and recovered Rs 10.75 lakh as penalty from violators in last two months.
As per the department, during the course of checking by enforcement teams, 9 cases of evasion were detected during January- .February 2020 and Rs 10,75,518 was recovered as penalty from defaulters.
The teams of the department intercepted many vehicles, wherein goods were being transported without the requirements mandated under GST law. These drive was supervised by DC Enforcement Jammu(Nortlh), Sunaina Sharma. Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner Enforcement has appealed all the stakeholders to transport the goods strictly in accordance with the provisions laid down in GST law and carry the required documents, viz, tax invoice and e-way bill(wherever applicable) invariably.
Further, the Deputy Commissioner stated that the drive against the attempts of evasion of GST will continue and if required, investigations will be carried out wherever necessary.
The GST enforcement team Jammu(North) consisted of State Taxes Officer Ashwani Sharma; Inspectors S.P.Singh, Beant Singh, Sanjeev Sharma, Anil Parihar; Sub-inspectors, Manvinder Singh, Ajay Kumar, Azad Wani, Mukhtar Chowdhary, Rajesh Sambyal, Rajesh Kumar and Guards Mohammad Younis, Ashfaq Malik, Tilak Raj, Sham Lal, Javed Iqbal, Bihari Lal and other officials of the department.
