JAMMU, Feb 24: Continuing the drive to provide better development and basic facilities to the people of Jammu, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation today conducted an extensive tour of Rajpura, Shakti Nagar and adjoining areas. Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta along with Anu Bali and Surinder Choudhary councilors of Ward nos 24 and 29 tool stock of the ongoing construction work and laying of slab on nallah at Rajpura near Shanta School flowing through ward nos 24, 28 and 29. Mayor kick started the further extensive work of covering of this nallah at main junction of said wards. This was the long pending demands of the inhabitants of localities of Rajpura, Bakshi Nagar and Rehari as school going children and old age persons have to face lot of problems while passing in the areas due to uncovered nallah at prominent spots and number of inhabitants even fell in this open nallah on several occasions. This nallah is being constructed by UEED under AMRUT Scheme at the estimate cost of Rs 1.26 crore. Mayor directed the engineering wing of UEED to complete this project with quality material and upto the satisfaction of inhabitants of the locality and within stipulated time period so that they can have a sigh of relief and donot suffer from further foul smell emitting through this broken nallah which they are getting from the last so many years.
