Early Times Report

Srinagar, Feb 24: A Kashmir Pandit organization will take a peace march here on February 28 (Friday) with an aim to restore trust and confidence among people of the valley.
“We have decided to take out a peace march in Srinagar on Friday February 28 which is expected to be joined by members of civil society and the locals of the valley,” Chairman, Reconciliation, Return and Rehabilitations of Kashmiri Migrants, Satish Mahaldar told Early Times.
He said there was a need to restore trust and confidence among people of Kashmir, “we will carry white flags and candles while passing through the areas like Lal Chowk to Safa Kadal and Batmaloo to Pantha Chowk in Srinagar,” said Mahaldar.
He said that they want good relationship between Kashmir Pandits and Kashmiri Muslims. “After 30 years, the Kashmiri migrants comprising Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs are waiting for their return and rehabilitation, but no serious step has been taken so for,” he maintained. He said that the government allotted prime properties to West Pakistani Refugees and gave them financial assistance of five lakh rupees, but Kashmiri migrants were still waiting for the government to ensure their return to the valley.
It is to mention here that Kashmiri Pandits have made it clear that no return and rehabilitation formula will be acceptable to them which fail to redress the geo-political aspirations of the community leading an exiled life for over last 31 years outside Valley.
The leaders have cautioned the Modi government not to tread the same path which was adopted by the previous governments of Congress. They have made it clear to government that no return formula will be acceptable to displaced Pandits which fail to address their geo-political aspirations.
Pandit leaders have also said that any return formula which fails to provide guarantee that there will be no migration in future through the hands of radical forces in valley and they lead an honourable and dignified life which is only practicable in implementation of Margdarshan resolution of 1991.
