JAMMU, Feb 25: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) launched "Clean Jammu Green Jammu" drive under the stewardship of Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor and overall guidance of Avni Lawasa, Commissioner.
The drive has been launched to improve overall sanitation scenario across entire Jammu Municipal areas and focus will be made on commercial areas, bazaars, markets and unattended areas which will be identified by field staff of health and sanitation wing of JMC. During the drive desilting will be done in Raghunath Bazar and Kanak Mandi areas in blocked drains to avoid overflow and water logging during rains and to minimize foul smell and odours.
Despite this twin bins (Green/Blue) have been distributed among the shopkeepers and other business establishments of these areas and were requested to make use of dustbins to collect dry waste and wet waste separately.
Further, Mayor JMC appealed the owners of shopkeepers and Hoteliers and other businessman establishment owners to handover the dry waste (specially plastic waste) only to designated vehicles of IPCA which have been kept exclusively for this purpose to make plastic free environment by Indian Pollution Control Association.
Dy. Mayor JMC also spoke on the occasion and make people aware of the fine & penalties to be imposed on defaulters' and violators as per municipal bye laws for littering and open dumping of garbage including (C&D) waste etc. the amount of fines & penalties for different violators and defaulters has already been notified by JMC through electronic and print media. |
