Implementation of PMAY (U) reviewed in Samba

SAMBA, Feb 25: The implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban (PMAYU) in this border district was today reviewed here at a meeting of District Level Committee (DLC) chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Rohit Khajuria.
Managing Director(MD) J&K Housing Board, Arvind Kotwal; Chief Planning Officer, Sukhleen Kaur; Deputy General Manager J&K Housing Board; Project Officer District Urban Development Agency; Tehsildars; Block Development officers; Executive Officers of Municipal Committees, City Level Technical Cell (CLTC) Experts besides other concerned officials attended the meeting.
Giving details of physical and financial status, it was informed that 606 houses have been sanctioned for Samba, Bari-Brahamana, Ramgarh and Vijaypur towns, of which 379 are under construction, while 44 have been completed at a cost of Rs 3.21 crore.
MD J&K Housing Board, Arvind Kotwal informed that in 8th State level appraisal committee (SLAC), it was decided that under newly created Jammu Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (JMRDA) the population covered are equally eligible to get the benefit of PMAY(U) Mission for construction of new houses or enhancement and accordingly additional 260 habitations have been listed by JMRDA in Samba district.
The District Level Committee meeting discussed several measures for successful implementation of PMAY (U) Mission in the extended areas/Villages falling in JMRDA, including identification of potential beneficiaries as per the guidelines of PMAY(U) Mission, permission to the identified beneficiaries for the construction of new houses in the village and convergence of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) with the other programmes/schemes.
The Deputy Commissioner directed concerned to hold special camps in each block on 4th and 5th March and enroll the left of beneficiaries under house for all scheme. "A team headed by Block Development Officer and field staff of Revenue and Rural Development department along with a representative of Panchyati Raj Institution shall felicitate the enrolling of left out beneficiaries" the DC directed.
He emphasized upon tehsildars to facilitate the process of identification of beneficiaries and also provide necessary permission to these beneficiaries for construction of houses by adhering to the guidelines of the scheme.
