Early Times Report
DODA, Feb 25: Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department temporary employees who were on strike from February 7 ended their strike today. The employees gathered in PHE division Doda also held a meeting in which it was announced that the strike has been ended with the assurances of higher authorities to fulfil their demands.
Local employees leader while talking to media said that their union heads in Jammu have been assured that out of their eight demands four will be fulfilled. They said that the union leaders from Jammu conveyed them to call off the strike. Employees working in Doda have assured that they will immediately go on their duties and ensure smooth supply of water. The water supply was badly affected due to strike. Residents raised a hue and cry in Doda following shortage of water.
It is pertinent to mention here that all the water supply schemes and distribution of water to various localities is done by temporary employees and whenever they strike the entire water supply schemes come to stand still. Residents raise question as why permanent employees are not familiar to supplying the water whenever temporary employees go on strike.
