EARLY TIMES REPORT

Jammu, Feb 25: Even as Jammu region has been bearing the brunt of terrorism and Pakistani aggression that has affected educational activities in the region, the defence forces seem be more concerned about education of youth in Kashmir.
Whereas, after the historic decision of the abrogation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2019, the neglected Jammu region has been hoping to see end to decades of alleged discrimination with the winter capital region, Kashmir continues to get seemingly pampered.
In the latest, the defence forces have started free coaching services for Kashmir youth. In once such case, the forces in the Watlab Sector of north Kashmir conducted free classes in view of the upcoming recruitment rallies . As per an official handout, the classes were held “ as a part of the efforts for youth empowerment during winters.”
The aim of such classes is to prepare youth of Kashmir for written exams for various job openings in the government sector.
While the defence forces have been carrying out such goodwill gestures in the valley, experts have been of the opinion that similar opportunities should be offered to youth of Jammu as well.
“If Kashmir youth deserve free coaching to get prepared for the recruitment rallies, do youth from Jammu don’t deserve such opportunities?” asked a senior official.
He said the government of Jammu and Kashmir should devise a strategy such that such goodwill operations are carried out across the Union Territory in a way that the winter capital region doesn’t feel neglected as would happen in the past.
A few weeks ago, the defence forces had announced job openings for the doctors in Kashmir region drawking flak from Jammu.
Meanwhile the youth from various districts of Jammu region have appealed the forces to start similar coaching classes in all the districts of the province.
