DIC Jammu hosts awareness-cum-training programme

JAMMU, Feb 26: A one day awareness-cum-training programme on "Entrepreneurship & Innovation Management System" was today organized by District Industries Centre Jammu for college students, here at Udyog Bhawan.
Speaking on the occasion, Director, Industries & Commerce, Jammu, Anoo Malhotra appreciated the efforts of DIC Jammu for conducting the productive programme. She stressed on all DICs to conduct such programmes on regular intervals for spreading awareness among the unemployed youth about the various schemes being implemented by the Government so that the benefits percolate to gross-root levels. She apprised the audience about 14 focus-sectors of UT of J&K. She also informed that a film city, one logistic park and two IT towers are in pipeline. She assured the students that the Department will arrange Industrial visits for them in future to get firsthand experience about working of industries.
General Manager, DIC Jammu Subah Mehta said that the major focus of workshop was to motivate the college students to opt for own ventures under the various schemes viz. Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme [PMEGP], Start Up, Stand Up and avail benefits under present industrial package. She advised the students to act as resource persons to spread awareness regarding employment schemes of department in their respective institutes.
During the programme, a detailed presentation was given on "Entrepreneurship & Innovation Management System" by CEO SMVDU TBIC, Dr. Savarkar Sharma, and Incubation Manager SMVDU TBIC, Swati Sharma.
Divisional Officer, JK Pollution Control Board, Arshad Malik gave detailed presentation on Waste Management System for Healthy Environment and Role of the Pollution Control Board in implementing the same in different sectors. He apprised the staff of Industries and commerce department about the different SROs and orders related to pollution control and also about Extended Producer Responsibility under the Plastic Waste management.
The workshop was attended by the students from the ITI RS Pura, ITI Canal Road, Jammu, Women College Gandhi Nagar, MAM College, Women ITI College, Women College Parade, Govt. Polytechnic College Jammu, GGM Science College.
The workshop also attended by Joint Director, Trishala Kumari; Joint Director, Ved Parkash; and DD [P&S] Manisha; besides Managers, Field Officers and other officials of the Directorate of Industries & Commerce Jammu and DIC Jammu.
