Early Times Report
KISHTWAR, Feb 26: The building of Primary School Thathre in Dachhan area of district Kishtwar falling under Marwah Education Zone has developed massive cracks and had become unsafe to carry forward with educational activities.
As per the details available with Early Times, the locals of Thathre approached the office of Additional Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar requesting him for taking immediate steps towards shifting the students to some alternative building for accommodating the children studying in the institution.
"It is not reasonable for the people to send their children to school since the building is not fit and is unsafe for the children studying in this school," the locals said.
They further informed that the roof including kitchen shed, additional room of the school have developed big cracks and water is entering inside the class rooms which is causing adverse effect on safety aspects of the building.
They told the ADDC Kishtwar that the villagers had even lodged a written report regarding damages to the building with the concerned police station besides had also brought the matter into the notice of authorities several times including with I/C ZEO Marwah, but no action has been taken by them with regard to repair of the building or making any alternative arrangements for running the affairs of the school.
After giving patient hearing to the issue raised by the inhabitants of Thathre village, ADDC Kishtwar Mohammad Hanief Malik directed CEO Kishtwar to submit a detailed report with regard to the concerns raised by the people besides also directed the concerned official to intimate the administration whether the said school building has been brought under any future plan for its restoration and repair.
Meanwhile talking to Early Times, Om Prakash, Dealing Assistant at CEO Kishtwar expressed his ignorance about the issue adding that till date they have not made any alternative arrangements for shifting the students to alternate building.
He, however, said that the department will look into the matter adding that the renovation work could be taken only in case it had been incorporated in this year's plan and was unsure about its inclusion in the same.
The local people hailing from different areas of Marwah Education zone however slammed I/C ZEO Marwah Vidya Prakash Dhar for his continuous absence from the duty and called upon the authorities to fix responsibility on him and also ensure that he remains on duty.
