JKFA pitches for Astroturf at earliest in Jammu

JAMMU, Feb 26: Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) today organised a meeting of all its associate and direct members along with office bearers of District Football Associations of Jammu province.
While addressing the meeting Surinder Singh Bunty Treasurer JKFA detailed the members about the calendar of proposed activities in Union territory of J&K in the forthcoming summer season. He highlighted various problems being faced by the Association in organising various activities throughout J&K.
He said the existing infrastructure is insufficient and with the rising standards of football at national and international level we need a lot to do. He demanded the laying of Astroturf in Jammu at the earliest which is a long pending demand of Jammuites.
He further said that the JKFA is getting a meager amount of Rs 2 lakh as annual grant for the last many years which is insufficient for organising activities throughout J&K and demanded immediate enhancement of annual grant.
All the members expressed satisfaction over the successful completion of recently held 27th Annual Championship in Football in Jammu in which 46 teams across J&K participated including DFA Teams from Kashmir and Jammu regions along with 2 i-league teams; Lone star Kashmir FC & Real Kashmir Fc participated in the championship and was hosted by JKFA.
This championship lasted for 10 days and saw J&K Bank Football Team emerge as the champions.
JKFA expressed its gratitude towards the government who are always standing the association with full support.
Narinder Gupta Chairman DFA Jammu also highlighted various activities being carried out by JKFA in J&K and assured the members that JKFA will leave no stone unturned in uplifting the game of Football in J&K.
Prominent those who attended the meeting included S. Kuldeep Singh Vice President JKFA , S M Gill ex MLC and Direct member, Yusuf Don secy DFA Jammu, Bharat Bhushan and Charanpreet Bagga , executive members, Mohan Lal, David Burrat, Moon Stephen , Shakeel Tony, Shoib Geelani, Rajinder Sen, Owais Ganai, Rajinder Singh and Varinder Singh.
