Early Times Report

JAMMU, Feb 26: The 3 day Workshop-Cum-Training Programme, organised in collaboration with NIC, J&K by inviting expert Scientists from Software Development Unit of NIC, Pune for implementation of National Generic Document Registration System (NGDRS), concluded today at Jammu. The objective of the workshop, which was inaugurated by Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Inspector General Registration, J&K, was to sensitize the Registration Department of Jammu Division for rolling out Computerized Registration System in the UT of J&K for Registration of immovable Property and various type of sale deeds/documents under Registration Act 1908.
Pertinently, the registration of documents in the erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir was being done by the Judiciary at various levels but due to re-organization of the State into two Union Territories a separate and independent Department of Registration has been created and established in the UT of J&K. With implementation of online and Digital Registration system the gap shall further be abated bringing transparency and easy accessibility in the system.
Divisional Commissioner, Sanjeev Verma, while speaking at the concluding ceremony of the workshop, appreciated the efforts of the department and NIC, J&K for organizing this workshop. This will benefit the public a lot by saving time and relax the workload of officers dealing with registration manually. Additional Commissioner (Central), Ahmed Baba, also spoke on the concluding session. He reiterated upon all the Registrars and Sub-Registrars to prepare the master data of the respective SRO within two days. He appreciated the efforts of scientists Anjali Bembalkar, Rajesh D Bhusari and Sr. Programmer Saiyed Saleem for imparting this technical training to the officers of Registration Department.
Additional State Informatics Officer, NIC, Saleem Khan elaborated the problems and issues being faced by the Registration Officers for implementation of this new system NGDRS in the UT.
Registrars of all districts of Jammu Division and Sub Registrars of Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts participated in the event and evinced keen interest in understanding the application of NGDRS.
During the intensive three day Workshop-Cum-Training Programme, Scientist from SDU, NIC Pune gave a Power Point Presentation detailing the salient features of NGDRS. The live instances of the Software with regard to the rules and requirements of J&K were also demonstrated.
