JAMMU, Feb 26: Strongly criticizing the idea of delimitation of Assembly constituencies on the basis of 2011 census, former State Treasurer and President Citizen's Forum RK Chadha said that the such exercise amounts to selling future of Jammu region to the rich leaders, who on the strength of their huge financial sources have always been demanding only early elections in the UT, and nothing for the equal rights and development of this region.
Chadha said that we supported abrogation of Article 370 on Prime Minister’s promise to give equal political status and development to Jammu region. Though abrogation of 370 has brought down the financial conditions of Jammu region and people are suffering the brunt of economic depression, but we still hope that things will improve and your promise of giving equal respect and dignity to Jammu people will be an ultimate gift to the people of Jammu.
We demand the elections to the UT be only announced after completing the present census of the J&K UT. Jammu people are not in a hurry to go for an early election, said Chadha. “We want respectable status and equal developments. The idea of delimitation on the basis of 2011 census of J&K will amount to cheating of Jammu people,” he said. |
