Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 26: Editor Early Times, Munish Gupta, on Wednesday urged the administration of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to pay attention towards the problems being faced by the residents of Narwal Pain Satwari area.
Munish, who would be contesting the forthcoming assembly elections as an independent candidate from Gandhi Nagar constituency, said that providing basic amenities to the people is the duty of the administration. Officials cant act as mute spectators. They need to pay heed towards the difficulties being faced by the common masses. Having basic amenities is the right of people and they cannot be deprived of it, he added.
Munish exuded hope that the concerned authorities will wake up from the deep slumber and act so that people can feel that system has changed for the good.
Meanwhile, residents of ward no 1, Narwal Pain Satwari while talking to Early Times highlighted various problems being faced by them for the last many years. We have been facing multiple problems but the concerned quarters have turned a blind eye towards us, said Ramesh Kumar.
Residents said that the park in their area has not been maintained for years together. Condition of the park depicts the reality, said Deepak.
He said that with stray animals have made the park their permanent home. Some of the animals roaming inside the park are suffering from disease creating unhygienic conditions. The condition of the benches which are installed in the park is pathetic. The concerned officials seem least bothered, Deepak added.
Kamal Dass, Ramesh Kumar, Ashok Kholi and Bansi Dass said that teenagers come here to play games and adults for exercise. But the park being shambles has disappointed one and all, they added.
The authorities are not taking the parks maintenance seriously despite our repeated requests.
Residents said that they are facing immense hardships due to water supply being irregular. Last 20 days have been worse as taps are running dry. Our repeated pleas to regulate the water supply have fallen flat on deaf ears. It appears that the administration has left us to fend for ourselves as no one is ready to listen, they added.
