Police to start ‘hi-tech profiling’ of domestic helps
Murder of lawyer in Jammu
2/27/2020 1:02:55 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

Srinagar, Feb 26: In the wake of murder of senior lawyer in Jammu and police having launched a manhunt to nab the domestic help suspected for having committed the crime, the police department is planning to start “hi-tech profiling” of servants in the winter capital.
Sources said in the wake of the shocking incident of the murder of advocate Reyaz Ahmed Buchh, the Senior Superintendent of Police, Jammu Sridhar Patil chaired a high level meeting where the police evolved a strategy to nab the accused, a resident of Bihar. Patil, who is known for his policing skills, discussed a strategy to nab the accused at an earliest.
But sources privy to meeting said apart from the crime in particular, the police department discussed how to prevent any such incident from taking place in future.
Sources said it was decided that it would be made mandatory for the Jammuites to get the “profiling” of their domestic helps done at the concerned police stations.
“Apart from digital images of the domestic helps, the police will be keeping record of the permanent address of such persons. Besides, strategic details like their age, height etc to be recorded,” said a senior official on the condition of anonymity.
He said general public would be apprised about such a development through a notification via print and electronic media “as and when the proposal is finalized.”
“As of now, the plan is under discussion and once the modalities are finalized, profiling will be made mandatory,” the official said.
Though such advisories used to be in place in the past as well, this time the police look ahead to create database of such people on “hi-tech lines.” “We look ahead to maintain a computerized database that will be compatible with the data of the National Crime Record Bureau,” the official added.
It is pertinent to mention that on February 24, a lawyer Reyaz Ahmed Buchh was found dead at his residence in Greater Kailash area here.
As per the police, deceased’s body bore marks of injuries and that the CCTV at house was found damaged.
The police suspect their domestic help being responsible for the crime. He had started working with the family a few months ago but has been mysteriously missing since the crime took place.
The murder is believed to have taken place when the family head was alone as his wife had gone abroad and son was in Mumbai.
The police are hopeful of cracking the case soon.
