EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Feb 27: Inaugurated with much fanfare, the building of Community Hall in Tarindi village of Ramgarh area has been lying in shambles due to sheer negligence by the Rural Development Department Samba.
The work of community Hall building was started by the Rural Development Department during 2013-14 in Tarindi village of Ramgarh area of Tehsil Vijaypur. According to the reports, lakhs of rupees were spent on construction and after its completion, the hall was inaugurated by former MLA Surjit Singh Salathia.
“The land for construction of Community Hall was donated by a local Shiv Ram, of village Tarindi. The construction was not up to the mark and found of poor quality making it non-useful for the locals,” they alleged. They further said that during construction neither a government official inspected the material being used in constructing the community building nor did the head of the panchayat pay attention to it.
It was the responsibility of concerned department to inspect the quality of construction work but the apathetic attitude of RDD, the building seems to be of poor quality suspecting embezzlement of funds.
Locals, Darshan Kumar and Ravi Kumar, alleged that due to poor condition of building, the poor could not take benefit of it for marriage functions. They demanded thorough investigation and action against the guilty. Another local resident, Janak Singh said that construction of community hall was just a mean of corruption by the some vested interests.
Locals urged Lieutenant Governor J&K UT to intervene into this matter and demanded that concerned officials be instructed to take immediate steps for the renovation work. Despite repeated calls, the concerned officials could not be contacted for their comments.
