Jammu’s interests being pushed into oblivion: Harsh
3/6/2020 11:08:58 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 6: A meeting of Panthers Party was held at Party Headquarters Jammu today under the Chairmanship of Harsh Dev Singh to review the organizational matters and to further take stock of the prevailing situation in the UT especially in Jammu region. On the occasion, Harsh Dev announced Parshotam Sharma as Vice President, District Kathua unit of JKNPP, Satish Sharma as Tehsil President Hiranagar, Vinay Bhola as President, Block Bhalwal Young Panthers unit, Bharat Singh as Block President, Khour Block and Dharminder Singh as Secretary of Jammu District Rural unit of NPP.
Addressing the gathering, Harsh Dev Singh expressed grave concern over lackadaisical approach of the govt towards the development and tourism projects of Jammu region which had either been abandoned or left half done. He said that the govt had maintained a studied silence over the fate of Mubarak Mandi – Bagh-e-Bahu – Mohmaya Cable Car project despite repeated announcements during the past few years for its early operationalization. “The Artificial Tawi lake barrage too seemed to have been abandoned after incurring several crores on the project with concerned authorities tight lipped over its fate. The Smart City project of Jammu too appeared to be a flop show in view of recent report of Union Urban Ministry declaring Jammu as the dirtiest city. And while the Smart city mission in Kashmir had established 25 smart model schools in Srinagar city in collaboration with local administration together with other interventions for its up-gradation, the incumbent administration in Jammu had hardly anything to show except choked drains, overflowing streets and dilapidated footpaths”, regretted Singh. And while the people were clamouring for civic amenities in the city of temples, the BJP leaders were busy in self adulation, patting their backs for having changed the names of local ‘chowks’ and roads, anguished Singh said. It was regrettable, he added, that there were no takers for the shrill cries of the public agitating for regular water and power supply and proper maintenance of their lanes and drains.
