EARLY TIMES REPORT

POONCH, Mar 27: District Administration Poonch has virtually failed to make arrangements against COVID-19, which can be gauged from the fact that market has been running in shortage of masks, sanitizers and medicines due to which general public has been suffering a lot.
Sources told Early Times that due to shortage of masks and sanitizers, the medical and other shops are selling these stuffs on exorbitant rates. The Health Department has been performing poorly in these difficult times as there is no sanitization facilities are available in the District Hospital Poonch for the patients as well as for the attendants, who are always exposed to deadly Coronovirus.
The most threatening reports, which are coming from the district that private medical shops have been facing shortage of medicines particularly antibiotics due to the absence of supply of the same from companies. “Administration has asked us to open the medical shops but due to shortage of medicines there is no sense to open them all the day,” said some pharmacy owners. Administration should come forward to help them so that people might not face any problem due to shortage of essential medicines, they added.
Sukhvinder Singh, Chairman Umeed Welfare Society Poonch, said that there is huge black-marketing of masks, sanitizer going on in the district. “Mask worth Rs 10 is being sold at Rs 50 while sanitizer of Rs 50 is being sold at the rate of Rs 90,” he said, adding that District Hospital Poonch has totally failed to make proper arrangements to fight with COVID-19, no sanitizer is provided to the patients and attendants to protect themselves from the disease.
He appealed to Lieutenant Governor to take note of the problems being faced by the people and urged him to direct all the officers to make necessary arrangements.
