Panic in Rajouri after man tests positive

Jammu, Mar 27: Amid countrywide lockdown in the wake of Coronavirus, panic has gripped district Rajouri and its adjoining places, as man has been test positive for deadly virus, who was in close contact with another positive case, who died yesterday.
Yesterday Government’s spokesperson Rohit Kansal, in a regular media briefing had confirmed a positive case in district Rajouri. “As the announcement went public, the gripped panic among the masses not in Rajouri town but also in adjoining areas and towns as well”, said a Police officer, adding that some rumor mongers adding fuel in the panic by circulating mis-information among the masses.
“We have indentified eight persons, including six from the family of infected person and two those who have close contact with the family have been shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu, as one person tested positive for Coronavirus”, said a senior officer in district administration.
“Meanwhile, the area where infected person was housed in Rajouri has been cordoned off and no one is allowed in radius of 500 meters, to prevent any further chaos and spread of virus”, the officer said.
Though the district administration has established helpline desks, but the people without confirming and cross-checking it through authorities, passing on fake information, he added.
Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri Nazir Skeikh when contacted said the administration is trying identify the persons have been in close contact with the person who have been tested positive yesterday. “Eight persons, who were immediately in contact with the person tested positive, including family members and relatives have been kept under quarantine, other also being traced if any”, he said, adding that the administration appeal the masses follow guidelines being issued by government time and again of maintaining social distancing, staying in home.
