JAMMU, Mar 28: In war against the Coronavirus that had claimed the lives of 28000 people while infecting as many as 6 lakh people globally so far, the life has come to a standstill in several parts of the world as well as India where a country wide lockdown has been imposed since March 25.
While several day to day activities have come to a halt in district Kishtwar in view of the lockdown, the marriage ceremonies have become another casualty in the list.
In an incident in remote Bhunzwah area of Kishtwar District, Mohammad Din Butt had to solemnize the marriage of his two daughters in a simple manner and that too in the absence of key family members as two of his daughters and a son-in-law couldn’t make it for the wedding ceremony.
As per the details available with Early Times, Mohammad Din Butt and his family were preparing for the marriage of their two daughters since long but the lockdown trampled the whole ceremony and the family left with no other option other than to follow the guidelines and instructions issued by the government.
Mohammad Din Butt, father of nine daughters had married four daughters prior to this marriage of two daughters but for his utter disappointment his two daughters and a son-in-law weren’t able to participate in this marriage due to lockdown since all the three were residing at Kishtwar some 60 KM from the village in Bunzwah block.
While Butt’s another son-in-law somehow managed to reach as police and administration allowed him to move since he had to deliver the cloths and other items for both the brides.
Speaking to Early Times, Imran Shah, son-in-law of Butt said that it is necessary to follow the instructions and guidelines issued by the government adding that the family members were not in a position to postpone the marriage ceremony.
He said that his wife is very upset since she failed to attend the long awaited marriage of her sisters.
He said that one of the two among his sister-in-laws had been married to a Doda boy and only two persons were allowed to accompany the groom by the Doda administration adding that after Nikah ceremony both the bride and groom were sendoff within hour and no one was allowed to escort the bride as traditionally a newlywed girl is accompanied by few family members or friends.
Meanwhile, the other daughter of Butt was married to a local boy residing in the vicinity of his village but again only few guests had turned up with the local groom as well.
