COVID 19: Kashmir witnessing surge, Jammu stable
People hiding travel histories worsens situation

Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 29: As the experts are predicting that number of COVID-19 positive cases are all set to increase in coming days, people across Jammu and Kashmir have kept their fingers crossed and are hoping that situation won’t take an ugly turn.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, “There has been a surge in the number of cases in Kashmir. In Jammu numbers are not that alarming. People of Jammu need to remain cautious and take extra precautions to remain safe. The only medicine which can save people from this deadly virus is staying at home and maintaining social distance.”
He said, “The spurt in the number of COVID-19 cases in Kashmir could be due to people hiding their travel histories and not volunteering to come forward. Had they acted bit responsibly the chain which has been formed could have been broken within a few days.”
The analyst said, “People in Jammu region seem to have acted responsibly till now and one hopes they will continue to follow the lockdown in letter and spirit till the COVID-19 graph is flattened.”
He said, “Its upto the people to fight this deadly virus. Their home is their fort and once they come out they will be giving an invitation to Coronavirus to enter their homes. Ball is in our court and we have to decide what is good for us.”
An observer said, “All of us are aware about the fact that doctors have been overburdened and are the forefront of fighting this deadly pandemic. But they are complaining about facing shortage of protective gear and them being exposed to the risk of getting infected. It’s the duty of the administration to protect them so that they can lead from the front and save the precious human lives.”
The observer said, “It’s high time for people in Kashmir having travel histories to come forward and get themselves tested. It can help in saving their contacts and their own family members. If they continue to remain in hiding it can lead to a catastrophe. We should learn lessons from the countries where the COVID-19 has turned into full blown crisis. Italy and Spain are recording nearly 1000 deaths in a day. We can only hope and pray that such a situation doesn’t arise and this virus disappears before causing any harm.”
