EARLY TIMES REPORT

UDHAMPUR, Mar 29: In a startling exposure it has come to fore that a railway cop, who was detected positive for Covid-19, displayed utter irresponsibility by hiding facts and remained with common people till he was taken away by the authorities from his duty on March 27 for quarantine.
Sources informed that a week ago, five persons including the erring cop had entered J&K without disclosing their travel history thereby posing grave threat to the lives of innumerable innocent people.
Now, the Railway Police cop and three out of five people have been declared positive for COVID-19 infection after reports in this regard were declared yesterday.
Sources further informed that four out of the five persons, who are from Udhampur district had returned from Indonesia after attending a religious congregation there and the fifth was from Manjakote area of district Rajouri, who joined the them at New Delhi.
They further informed that three of these boarded a train from Delhi to Jammu and enroute in Ludhiana, a Railway Police cop joined them. Upon reaching J&K, they headed towards their respective destinations in Rajouri and Udhampur.
After their arrival some sources informed the respective district administrations as well as police of their travel history.
Udhampur administration then took three of these to quarantine while the railway cop joined his duty on March 24 before he was picked on March 27 after the Rajouri based positive tested man informed that he (cop) also accompanied them.
The cop spent three initial days after his arrival at his home or somewhere else is not known after which he joined his duty without disclosing anything about the travel history from Ludhiana to Udhampur.
Shockingly, at the busy Jammu and Udhampur Railway Stations these people had come in contact many people while the one from Rajouri had done same with many innocent people at places where there were large gatherings, sources maintained
Meanwhile, DC Udhampur, Piyush Singla has ordered that anyone concealing travel history will be booked as per law. He also gave direction to all the Tehsildars, SHOs and Sarpanchs of Udhampur district to take stern action against those who do not disclose their travel history within two days.
